Backbone

The vertebral column of the human body consists of 34 vertebrae, and shows an S-shaped curvature seen from the side. The vertebral column is a column which provides support to the human body and connects all parts of the skeletal system. Possible movements are flexion/extension, rotation and lateral inclination. 

Intervertebral discs lie between adjacent vertebrae in the backbone. Besides joint injuries, protrusions of intervertebral discs are possible injuries.
